Gatomboya means “swamp” in Kenya’s Kikuyu dialect and it refers to the water-rich and fertile environment around the Gatomboya Factory, where coffee grows under the shade of macadamia and eucalyptus trees. This coffee consists of AA beans, the highest grade given to Kenyan coffee for their size and quality, and it was processed using Kenya’s traditional double-washing method, bringing out bright acidity and clean flavors. We tasted a cocktail of sweet, dense fruits. Enjoy notes of prune, banana, nectarine, and mandarin, with a hint of anise, a stone fruit acidity, and a clean tealike body.

Every coffee we share has been tasted and recommended by our expert Tasting Panel who have years of experience in specialty coffee. We cast a wide net, trying hundreds of coffees, keeping an open mind to new regions, processes, and roasters, and going through many rounds of cupping. If there was an easier way of choosing each coffee, we wouldn’t want to do it. For exclusive weekly coffee suggestions from our panel, join Fellow Drops!
