The experience

April has sourced coffee from fifth-generation producer Alejo Castro since its very first year, making Volcán Azul one of its longest-standing farm relationships.

Here, the celebrated Kenyan variety SL28 takes on the sweetness and depth of Costa Rican terroir while retaining the juiciness and vibrancy it’s known for. The coffee continues to place highly in Costa Rica’s annual Cup of Excellence competition.

We tasted notes of red cherries, nougat, and florals.
