Fellow and the EU Data Act

Fellow is committed to complying with applicable regulations, including Regulation (EU) 2023/2854, known as the Data Act. You can find more information on the European Commission's website.

In accordance with Art. 3, Chapter II of the Data Act, the information below covers the data created by using our apps and our connected products: Fellow Espresso Series 1, Aiden, and our connected kettles.

Each machine works fully without an internet connection. When you connect it to Wi-Fi, some of this data is sent to Fellow's servers.

Connected Product Data: Fellow Espresso Series 1

Detail

Description

Type

Machine settings, brew profiles you create, usage and maintenance statistics, operational logs, and device information including serial number, model and firmware version.

Format

JSON (settings, profiles, statistics, maintenance); structured text log lines (operational logs).

Estimated volume

About 5 to 20 KB for the full data set. In typical daily use, less than 1 MB per day is transmitted, excluding firmware updates.

Generated continuously and in real time?

The machine generates data while it operates. Once connected, operational logs are sent in near real time, settings and profile changes are sent when they happen, and usage and maintenance statistics are sent periodically. With Wi-Fi off, data stays on the machine only.

Storage location

On the machine, and on remote servers operated by Amazon Web Services and Papertrail in the United States.

Retention period

On the machine, until you change or delete it, or perform a factory reset. In the cloud, only the latest values are kept and each update replaces the previous one. Operational logs are retained for up to two weeks, or until the total log volume reaches 60 GB, whichever comes first.

Connected Product Data: Fellow Aiden Precision Coffee Maker

Usage and maintenance statistics including descale and flush history. Device information including serial number, model and firmware version.

Format

JSON (settings, profiles, schedules, statistics, brew status); structured text log lines (operational logs).

Estimated volume

About 10 KB at most for the full data set. In typical daily use, less than 1 MB per day is transmitted, excluding firmware updates.

Generated continuously and in real time?

The machine generates data while it operates. With connectivity off, data stays on the machine only.

Connected Product Data: Fellow Connected Kettles

This section covers the Stagg EKG Pro, Stagg EKG Pro Studio Edition, Corvo EKG Pro and Corvo EKG Pro Studio Edition.

Detail

Description

Type

Kettle settings including language, units, altitude, pre-boil, chime, hold and schedule preferences. Target temperatures you select and summaries of each heating session. Device information including serial number, model and firmware version.

Format

JSON (heating-session summaries and clock time); HTTP request headers carrying the kettle's device identifiers, firmware version and display language.

Estimated volume

About 0.5 KB per heating session. In typical daily use, a few KB per day is sent, excluding firmware updates.

Generated continuously and in real time?

The kettle generates data while it operates. With Wi-Fi off, data stays on the kettle only.

Storage location

On the kettle, and on remote servers operated by Amazon Web Services in the United States and Singapore.

Retention period

On the kettle, until you change it or perform a factory reset. In the cloud, the kettle's record keeps only the latest values, and each update replaces the previous one. Heating-session summaries and firmware-update records are kept indefinitely.

Related Service Data: Fellow App

The Fellow App (iOS and Android) is the related service for the Espresso Series 1 and Aiden. You use it to connect your machine to Wi-Fi, change settings, and create, edit and share brew profiles. Each machine works without the app. Using the app creates both personal data, such as your name and email address, and non-personal data about how you use the app.

Detail

Description

Type

Account data including your name, email address, time zone and notification preferences. Machine settings and commands you send through the app. Brew profiles you create, edit, share or download. Coffee bag photos, if you use Scan a bag. App usage analytics, crash reports, and a push notification token.

When setting up your machine, the app sends your Wi-Fi network name and password directly to the machine over Bluetooth. The password is never sent to Fellow's servers and is not stored in the app. With your permission, the app uses your phone's location only to read altitude. Your latitude and longitude are not sent.

Format

JSON over HTTPS (account, settings, profiles, analytics, crash reports); JPEG image (bag scan).

Estimated volume

Account data and settings, a few KB. Profiles, about 1 KB each. Bag-scan photo, about 200 to 600 KB per scan. Analytics and crash reports, typically a few KB to tens of KB per day of active use.

Generated continuously and in real time?

No. App data is generated only while you use the app. Settings, profile changes and bag scans are sent when you make them.

Storage location

On your phone, and on remote servers in the United States operated by Amazon Web Services, Mixpanel, Google Firebase and Anthropic.

Retention period

On your phone, until you sign out or uninstall the app. In the cloud, until you request deletion.

Related Service Data: Fellow EKG Updater App

The EKG Updater app (iOS and Android) is the related service for our connected kettles. You use it to connect your kettle to Wi-Fi and keep its firmware up to date. The kettle works without the app. The app does not ask you to create an account, and it does not collect your name, email address or location.

Detail

Description

Type

Kettle setup data, including the kettle's Bluetooth name and MAC address, the Wi-Fi network you choose, and the name you give the kettle. Firmware update checks. A push notification token, used to tell you when a firmware update has been installed. Crash and error reports.

When setting up your kettle, the app sends your Wi-Fi network name and password directly to the kettle over Bluetooth. The password is never sent to Fellow's servers and is not stored in the app. The app asks for Bluetooth permission (and, on Android, location permission) only to find nearby kettles. Your location is not collected or sent.

Format

JSON over HTTPS (firmware update checks, notification registration, crash reports).

Estimated volume

Firmware update checks, about 1 KB each, repeated about every 3 minutes while a kettle screen is open in the app. Notification registration, under 1 KB. Crash reports, a few KB each.

Generated continuously and in real time?

No. App data is generated only while you use the app. Firmware update checks run only while the app is open. The app does not run in the background, except to show notifications.

Storage location

On your phone (encrypted app storage), and on remote servers operated by Amazon Web Services in the United States, Google Firebase and Sentry.

Retention period

On your phone, until you remove the kettle in the app or uninstall the app. In the cloud, the notification token is kept until you remove the kettle in the app. Request logs are kept indefinitely. Crash reports are kept by Sentry for up to 90 days.

How to access, erase or share your data

View your data on your machine. Your settings, brew profiles and device information, including the serial number and firmware version, are visible in your machine's on-screen menu.

View your data in the Fellow App. Your account details, machine settings and brew profiles are visible in the Fellow App.

Erase data on your machine. You can delete individual brew profiles, clear your Wi-Fi and cloud credentials, and perform a factory reset, which erases settings, profiles and stored credentials from the machine.

Erase data in our apps. In the Fellow App you can delete individual brew profiles, remove a machine from your account, and sign out to clear your account data from your phone. In the EKG Updater app you can remove a kettle.

Stop sending data. Turning off connectivity in your machine's settings stops it sending data to Fellow. Your machine stays fully functional offline. Uninstalling our apps stops all app data collection.

Request a copy of your data, its deletion, or sharing with a third party. Email productdata@fellowproducts.com. We may ask for the email address on your Fellow account and your machine's serial number so we can verify your request.
